3 cups cabbage, chopped
2 yellow squashes, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
3 large celery stalks with leaves, chopped
2 15-ounce cans crushed tomatoes
3 14-ounce cans fat-free chicken broth
1 cup vegetable juice
3 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Place all ingredients in a large pan and simmer for one hour, or until vegetables are soft. Use on Cycles 1–4.
Yield: 16 servings

Sounds good but I thought you couldn’t have squash in Cycle 1.
I have so gotten off track and I did so good with the book and the pan but misplaced the book, out of sight out of mind! so glad to see this pop up on my FB page to remeind me so I will ( already have started the Tea and hot lemon water )get to shopping again for the soup! for starters.
I have lost 20 pounds on thus diet plan and love it. I took a break from it since thanksgiving and went through the entire holiday and only gained 3 lbs back. Starting my next 17 day cycle next Monday to loose a few more lbs. Been on wwatchers for 2o years and it did not work for me.

Is yellow squash a winter squash? If it is, you can have that in cycle 2… if not, you can’t add it until cycle 3.
I was on this diet when the book first came out and it works FANTASTIC! I lost 20 pounds in 30 days! I felt so good. No more acid reflux, no more IBC … so nice. Healthy eating… dropping out the sugar. You set your mind to at least do the first 17 days and then you just keep on going because the first 17 days are so amazing!
I’ve heard great things about this soup and can’t wait to try it. I lost 53 lbs on this diet and have had no trouble keeping the weight off. It really changed my eating habits and I’ve remained on cycle 3 — with special occasions off for “good behavior”. I feel wonderful! Have so much more energy! — to answer Cindy’s question, yellow squash is a summer squash and it is YELLOW, sometimes called “crooked neck squash”. There is an abundance of it in the fresh fruit/vege section of grocery stores now, but you can find it in the frozen food section.
